La Zenia Boulevard: 150 shops, opening hours, Sundays, restaurants and how to get there

What is there

An open-air mall built in 2012 around a central plaza with fountains and lawns, so it feels more like a town square than a box. Fashion is the core: Primark, Zara, Pull&Bear, Bershka, Stradivarius, Mango, H&M, Springfield, Women’secret, Decathlon, JD, Foot Locker, plus phone shops, opticians, a pharmacy and the Alcampo hypermarket for the big shop. There is a bowling alley, a multiplex cinema, the Casino Mediterráneo, and a cluster of family restaurants: Spanish grills, Italian, burgers, sushi, Foster’s Hollywood, ice cream.

Opening hours and Sundays

Shops open from 10:00 to 22:00 most of the year, often to 23:00 in July and August; restaurants run until midnight or later. Alcampo opens earlier. The centre opens on Sundays and public holidays through the summer season and on designated Sundays the rest of the year; check the website before a Sunday trip in winter. Spanish sales start in early January and July.

Getting there and parking

From Punta Prima it is five minutes by car: south on the N-332, signposted left at La Zenia. The car park is large, free and shaded in parts, and only fills on wet August afternoons. On foot it is about 25 minutes along the main road, not a scenic walk. The coastal bus between Torrevieja and Cabo Roig stops outside, and taxis from the villa cost very little.

With children, and in the rain

The plaza has a playground, a carousel, a little animal corner and fountains children walk through in summer. Bowling and the cinema (films in Spanish, with some original-version screenings) are the rainy-day plan for the whole coast, so arrive early. Decathlon is the place for forgotten snorkels, rash vests and beach tennis bats.
