Punta Prima, Costa Blanca: the beach, Cala Piteras, restaurants and the coastal walk
Punta Prima is the point where Torrevieja ends and the Orihuela Costa begins: a sandy beach between two rocky headlands, villa streets behind it, a shopping centre on the main road, and a coastal path in both directions. It is where Casa Fragata is, so we know it well.

The beach
Playa de Punta Prima is about 250 m of fine sand in a bay between two low rocky points. The rocks take the swell, so the water is usually calmer and clearer than at Playa del Cura or Los Locos, and the beach fills more slowly. There are showers, a ramp onto the sand, lifeguards and a flag system in season, sunbed hire in summer, and the beachfront restaurant where Avenida del Mar meets the beach. From the villa it is a flat four-minute walk.
The coves and the coastal path
North of the beach the path climbs the point to Cala Piteras, a rocky cove with clear water and good snorkelling, then Cala Ferrís and the seafront of Rocío del Mar where the Nautilus restaurant sits on the rocks. Keep going and you reach the long Torrevieja promenade at Playa de los Náufragos. South, the clifftop path runs 20 minutes to Playa Flamenca, then La Zenia, Cala Capitán and Cabo Roig: the whole Orihuela Costa coastline on foot.

- Nautilus, 12 minutes along the coast: seafront terrace, fish and rice, book for dinner.
- Punta Marina centre, 9 minutes: Consum supermarket, bakery, pharmacy, cafés and bars.
- Carrefour Express on Avenida de California, 5 minutes; Lidl on Calle Santa Nunilón, 9; Mercadona in Playa Flamenca, 4 by car.
- La Zenia Boulevard, 5 minutes by car: everything else.

Torrevieja or Orihuela Costa?
Both. The municipal boundary runs through Punta Prima; the beach is Torrevieja’s, Urbanización Horizonte behind it is Orihuela’s. In practice you get Torrevieja’s town, markets and nightlife twelve minutes north, and the Orihuela Costa’s beaches, golf and La Zenia Boulevard a few minutes south, from a quiet villa street between them. Common questions
Where is Punta Prima in Spain?
On the Costa Blanca South, at the boundary between Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa in Alicante province, 45 minutes from Alicante airport. There is a different Punta Prima in Menorca.
Is Punta Prima part of Torrevieja?
The beach and the northern half are in Torrevieja; the southern half, including Urbanización Horizonte, is Orihuela Costa. Everyone calls the whole area Punta Prima.
Is Punta Prima beach good?
Yes: sandy, calm, Blue Flag, with a restaurant and lifeguards, and noticeably less crowded than the Torrevieja town beaches.
How far is Punta Prima from La Zenia Boulevard?
Five minutes by car, about 25 on foot.
Is Punta Prima quiet?
Yes. Low-rise villas and gardens, no clubs, and a beach that stays calm. The N-332 commercial strip is a few streets inland.
