When to come, by what you want

  • Beach and pool holiday: June to September; the pool is warm enough from late May.
  • Children at half-term: October is a good bet, 25 °C and a 23 °C sea; pack a jumper for evenings.
  • Easter: pleasant but not reliably hot; the processions are the draw.
  • Golf, walking, cycling: November to April.
  • Winter sun: December to February gives sunny 17 °C afternoons; see winter stays.
  • Value: May, June and late September have summer weather at shoulder prices.

Wind, humidity and the sea

The levante (east wind) brings swell to the open beaches and a couple of grey days a few times a year; the poniente (west) brings dry heat in summer. Humidity is high by the sea in August, which is why the Airzone matters at night. The sea is warmest in late August and September and takes until June to climb above 20 °C. The lagoons behind the town make Torrevieja slightly warmer and drier than Alicante in winter, which is the town’s whole pitch.
